The HR Gazette Season 1 Episode 174

In this HRchat interview, we hear from James Lord, Sales Director at Xref.com Americas about how reference checking should be conducted to ensure essential workers are placed into roles that can help those needing care during the crisis.

Questions in this interview include:

  • How much more difficult is it to have a resume that stands out during this period of mass unemployment?
  • What are the main market and economic influences that impact whether people conduct reference checks and how has it changed as a result of Covid-19?
  • Why can't HR managers just do a criminal check instead of using references?
  • Why do some companies ignore reference checks completely?
